You are here : What We Do? > Old age homes
There are many factors that have contributed to the alienation of the elders in our society, consciously and sometimes unconsciously by the younger generation, most striking reason being migration of young couples from the rural areas to cities or to other countries abroad in search of better employment opportunities to feed for themselves. Sometimes even if they want to they cannot accommodate their parents in their own homes, due to various reasons like youngsters on their part being sometimes resentful of the attitude of their parents as elders who have been in control of the household for a long time are unwilling to give up the responsibility to their children. Elders are sometimes too incapacitated or unwell to look after themselves or get medical care especially in an emergency. All these have made the old age

homes seem more relevant in the Indian context than ever before.
Paid old age homes are now available where care is provided for a fee but there are poor ones who are destitute and old people who have no one else to care for them. As a NGO of India, ‘Yatn’® is determined to shelter such old and destitute people. They are given shelter, food, clothing and medical care. A typical old age home will have the basic infrastructure of beds, medical care, nutritious food and care workers to attend to.
If you care for such destitute old aged people and want to aid them with food and shelter, please contact us at info@yatna.org, for sponsorship details or alternatively complete the contact form and our representative will contact you.
